How much does Spotify pay per stream?

Spotify doesn’t pay a fixed per-stream rate. On average it works out to roughly $0.003–$0.005 per stream paid to rightsholders, but the real number swings with the listener’s country, whether they’re on Premium or the free tier, and the cut your distributor or label takes before it reaches you.

That’s why the only number that really moves your royalties is more real streams, from listeners who actually discover and replay your music, not bot-inflated playlists that Spotify can strip.

Streaming is also only one royalty stream. Radio airplay pays separate performance royalties collected by your PRO, and if radio is part of your promo plan, RadioPromo.io finds station and show contacts the same way PlaylistSupply finds playlist curators.

Spotify royalties: FAQ

How much does Spotify pay per stream?

Spotify pays roughly $0.003 to $0.005 per stream to rightsholders on average. There is no fixed rate: your actual payout depends on listener country, whether they are Premium or free-tier, and your distributor or label split, so use a range, not a single number.

How many Spotify streams to make $1,000?

At about $0.003–$0.005 per stream, $1,000 takes roughly 200,000 to 333,000 streams. The calculator above shows the range for any stream count you enter.

Why are my Spotify royalties so low?

Per-stream rates are tiny by design, and a chunk is taken by your distributor or label before it reaches you. The only lever that moves the number is more real streams, which is why getting placed on genuine, active playlists (not botted ones) matters.

Does the calculator show exact earnings?

No, it is an estimate based on the average $0.003–$0.005 per-stream range. Your exact Spotify for Artists payout will vary with your audience mix and deal terms.
