Connect AI: Use PlaylistSupply in ChatGPT, Claude and Cursor through MCP

Connect AI is the new way to run PlaylistSupply from the AI app you already use. It links your PlaylistSupply account to ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code, Cursor or VS Code through MCP, the open standard AI apps use to connect to outside tools. Once it is connected, you ask in plain words and the AI app searches Spotify playlists in real time, pulls the curator contacts that are available, vets a playlist before you pitch it and, with the AI app's own Gmail connector turned on, drafts the pitches too. It uses your own account and your own credits, and it is included with every PlaylistSupply plan.

This guide explains what Connect AI does, what MCP is, what each request costs, how to set it up in each AI app in about two minutes, and how to run a whole playlist campaign from one chat. The example chats below play like the real thing. If you only want the feature page, it is at playlistsupply.com/connect-ai.

Key Takeaways

  • Connect AI puts PlaylistSupply inside ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code through MCP. You ask, the AI app runs the search.
  • It is included with the Basic, Viral and Record Label plans at no extra fee and uses the same credits as the web app: search and playlist details are free, PlaylistVet is 1 credit per playlist, a similar-artist search is 1 credit per artist.
  • Before anything that costs credits, PlaylistSupply hands your AI app one question for you with the most credits the request may use. Every connection also has a daily credit limit you set, from 0 to 50.
  • Connect Gmail in the same AI app and one chat takes you from search to curator contacts to pitches sent from your own Gmail, and later to the replies.
  • Setup takes about two minutes: ChatGPT and Claude sign in with your PlaylistSupply account, Cursor and VS Code use a personal key, Claude Code can use either.
  • Connect AI searches Spotify playlists. YouTube search, Auto-Pitch and the Playlist Directory stay in the web app.

What a Connect AI Chat Looks Like

Here is the whole idea in one exchange. The request is a keyword search, which uses no credits, and the AI app shows the result as a table with the curator contacts PlaylistSupply found where available:

Example chat. Names, numbers and emails are made up.

What Is MCP, and Why Does It Matter for Playlist Promotion?

MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. It is an open standard, introduced by Anthropic in late 2024 and since adopted by OpenAI, Cursor, VS Code and most AI apps, that lets a language model call outside tools during a conversation. An MCP server describes the tools it offers; the AI app decides when to call them, shows you what it is doing and reads the results back into the chat.

PlaylistSupply runs its own MCP server. The tools it exposes are the core of the web app: search playlists, read a playlist's details and curator contact, vet a playlist with PlaylistVet, find playlists for artists like you, and check your credit balance. Nothing is a copy or a stored list. The same real-time search engine that powers the web app answers every request, so the playlists, follower counts and contact details are current at the moment you ask.

Why that matters: playlist research has always been a loop of searching, reading rows, filtering by contact, checking quality and then writing. An AI app keeps the whole loop in one conversation and keeps the context, so each follow-up builds on the last answer: only the ones with an email, vet the top five, draft the pitches. You stop copying rows between tabs and spend the time on the pitch instead.

What You Can Ask For, and What It Costs

Connect AI is part of your plan. There is no extra fee and no new credit system; every action costs exactly what it costs in the web app.

Ask forWhat happensCost
Search Spotify playlistsBy genre, mood or any keyword, with follower counts and available curator contacts. Ask for a table and the AI app lists the rows.Free
Only the curators you can reachPlaylists that list an email, a social profile or any contact. Contacts are shown where available.Free
Playlist details from a linkPaste a playlist link and get its details and the curator contact where one exists.Free
Your credit balanceHow many credits the connection can still spend today and when the plan ends.Free
Playlists for artists like youName an artist you sound like and PlaylistSupply runs its similar-artist search. Name two and it runs one search for each.1 credit per artist
PlaylistVet before you pitchThe health score, built from Spotify Discovered On data, shown next to the curator contact.1 credit per playlist
Organic playlists in one requestAsk for a number of organic playlists. PlaylistSupply searches, then vets candidates until enough reach a health score of 5 or more or the approved credits run out, and shows every playlist it vetted.1 credit per vet, question first

Searching has one plan-level limit: on the Basic plan, AI apps can run 5 new keyword searches a day. Repeating the same words that day does not count, and after the fifth the AI app answers from playlists PlaylistSupply already found for that keyword until 00:00 UTC. Searches in the web app are not affected.

Under the hoodThe same real-time search the web app runsWhen your AI app calls search_playlists, PlaylistSupply runs the live Spotify search you see here and hands the rows back into the chat with the contact columns.

How the Credits Question Works

The question most people ask first is whether an AI app can burn through credits on its own. Two things stop that. Before anything that costs credits, PlaylistSupply hands your AI app one question for you, stating the most credits the request may use, and the paid action cannot start right away. Showing you that question is up to the AI app, which is why the second guard matters more: every connection has its own daily credit limit, from 0 to 50 with 10 to start. Paid actions stop at that limit, and paid actions are never retried on their own. At a limit of 0 the connection can still search and show playlist details.

Here is the same lo-fi campaign one step later, with the credits question in it:

Example chat. Names, numbers and emails are made up.

That is the reason to vet before you pitch. A playlist with the biggest follower count scored lowest, because PlaylistVet reads Spotify Discovered On data rather than the follower number: a playlist only appears in an artist's Discovered On section when it actually sends listeners, so a large list with a near-zero rate is the classic sign of bought followers. The PlaylistVet guide explains the score, and the free playlist bot checker runs it on any link without an account.

How to Set Up Connect AI (About Two Minutes)

Connect AI works with five AI apps. ChatGPT and Claude sign in with your PlaylistSupply account, so there is no key to copy. Cursor and VS Code use a personal key you create on the Connect AI page, shown once. Claude Code can use either.

AI appHow it connectsGood to know
ChatGPTSign in with your PlaylistSupply accountChatGPT Plus or higher, on the web. Start your message with @PlaylistSupply. On a Business, Enterprise or Edu workspace an admin may need to allow custom MCP servers first. ChatGPT may run a vet without asking first; the daily credit limit caps what it can spend.
ClaudeSign in with your PlaylistSupply accountWeb, desktop and mobile. On a Team or Enterprise plan an Owner adds the connector first, then each person connects with their own account. Claude can save pitches as Gmail drafts.
Claude CodeSign in, or a personal keyEither route works; the connection shows up under Your connections like any other.
CursorPersonal key, shown onceCreate the key on the Connect AI page and paste it into Cursor's MCP settings.
VS CodePersonal key, shown onceSame as Cursor: create the key, add the server in VS Code's MCP settings.

The steps are the same whichever app you pick:

  1. Open Connect AI in PlaylistSupply. Log in to PlaylistSupply and open Connect AI from the button on the Connect AI page. It comes with the Basic, Viral and Record Label plans.
  2. Pick your AI app and follow its steps. ChatGPT and Claude sign in with your PlaylistSupply account, with no key to copy. Cursor and VS Code use a personal key you create there, shown once. Claude Code can use either.
  3. Set the daily credit limit. Each connection gets its own daily credit limit, from 0 to 50, with 10 to start. Paid actions stop at that limit; at 0 the connection can still search and show playlist details.
  4. Ask your first question. Type a request in plain words, such as a genre with curator contacts shown as a table. In ChatGPT, start the message with @PlaylistSupply.
  5. Connect Gmail in the same AI app. Optional. Turn on the AI app's own Gmail connector, in ChatGPT under Plugins and in Claude under Customize, then Connectors, so the same chat can draft pitches to the curators it found.
  6. Manage the connection. Change the daily limit or remove the connection under Your connections on the Connect AI page. Up to 3 connections, one per app or computer; removing one stops it right away.

Every connection you make shows up under Your connections on the Connect AI page with its own daily credit limit. You can have up to 3, one per app or computer, and removing one stops it right away.

Under the hoodWhat vet_playlist runs for your AI appA vet request from the chat runs the same PlaylistVet check you see here, scoring the playlist on real Discovered On activity before a single pitch goes out.

Our Recommendation: Connect Gmail in the Same AI App

PlaylistSupply finds the curators. Your AI app's own Gmail connector turns them into pitches. Turn both on and one chat takes you from search to pitches sent from your own Gmail, and later to the replies. The Gmail connection belongs to the AI app, not to PlaylistSupply: in ChatGPT you connect it under Plugins, in Claude under Customize, then Connectors, and on a work plan an admin may need to allow it first. Connect AI never sees your inbox. It only receives what the AI app sends with a PlaylistSupply request, such as a search or a playlist link.

Ask for drafts first and read each one so it sounds like you. Claude can save them as Gmail drafts; in ChatGPT you review each one in the chat before it sends. Either way the pitch leaves from your own address, so every reply lands in your inbox rather than in a shared dashboard.

Example chat. Names and emails are made up.

A few rules make these pitches work: keep them short, mention the playlist by name, link one song, and offer something back, like sharing the playlist with your fans. Our guide on how to pitch Spotify playlists goes deeper on the message itself. If you would rather pitch from inside the tool, Auto-Pitch on the Viral and Record Label plans sends from your Gmail straight from the search results.

In the web appAuto-Pitch, the one-click alternativeOn the Viral and Record Label plans the web app sends the pitch from your Gmail with one click; through Connect AI the same job runs in your chat with the Gmail connector.

Your Whole Campaign in One Chat

Put the pieces together and a release campaign becomes five requests in one conversation, each building on the last:

  1. Ask. Say what you need: a genre, a mood, an artist you sound like, how many playlists.
  2. Shortlist. The AI app runs the search and builds a table with followers and available contacts. Say who you can reach, with an email or with a contact, to keep only playlists that list one.
  3. Vet. Approve once. Vets stop when enough playlists reach a health score of 5 or more, or when the credits you approved run out.
  4. Pitch. With Gmail connected, the AI app writes a personal pitch for each curator with an email, ready for you to review and send.
  5. Follow up. Days later, ask which curators replied, then draft the thank-you or the follow-up.

For the research side without an AI app, the same workflow is described step by step in how to find playlist curator contact information, and the free Spotify playlist curators directory lets you browse curators by genre before you log in.

Prompts to Copy

Paste one into your AI app and swap in your own genre, artist or link. Every prompt that uses credits says so, and the daily credit limit on the connection still caps the total.

  • Free Find lo-fi study playlists with curator contacts. Show the top 20 as a table with followers and contact.
  • 1 credit Find playlists for artists like artist, biggest first.
  • Free Search "rainy day jazz" and only show playlists that list an email.
  • Question first Find 5 organic reggaeton playlists I can reach on social media.
  • 1 credit Vet this playlist before I pitch it: playlist link
  • Free Show details and the curator contact for this playlist: playlist link
  • Free How many credits can you still spend today?
  • Needs Gmail Write a short, personal pitch for each playlist with an email. Mention the playlist by name and link my song: song link. Show me each one before anything is sent.
  • Needs Gmail Search my Gmail for replies from the curators I pitched this week and summarize them.
  • Needs Gmail Which curators from this chat have not replied yet? Draft a short, friendly follow-up for each.

Tips for better answers: name a number and ask for a table, so you get rows rather than a count; say who you can reach; name an artist for the similar-artist search; ask for organic or healthy playlists and the AI app vets until enough pass, after one question about credits; and in ChatGPT, start the message with @PlaylistSupply.

What Stays in the Web App

Connect AI covers the core of PlaylistSupply, not every feature. Three things stay in the web app for now:

Connect AI for Labels, Managers and Developers

Connect AI is built for artists first, but the same connection works for anyone who runs playlist campaigns in volume. A manager can keep one chat per artist and let the AI app hold the shortlist, the vet results and the reply status. A label can give each team member their own connection on their own account, each with its own daily credit limit. Developers who already live in Cursor, VS Code or Claude Code can add PlaylistSupply as an MCP server with a personal key and query it like any other tool in their editor.

And if your promotion runs past playlists, the same team builds Booking-Agent.io for venue and talent buyer contacts and RadioPromo.io for radio station and program director contacts.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Connect AI?

Connect AI links your PlaylistSupply account to an AI app such as ChatGPT or Claude through MCP, the open standard AI apps use to connect to tools. You ask for playlists, curator contacts and vets in plain words, and the AI app runs them with your account and your credits.

What is MCP and why does it matter for playlist promotion?

MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is an open standard that lets an AI app call outside tools in a conversation. PlaylistSupply runs an MCP server, so once it is connected, the AI app can search playlists, read curator contacts and vet playlists for you, with the same real-time search engine behind the web app. The protocol is supported by ChatGPT, Claude, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code.

Which plans include Connect AI, and does it cost extra?

Connect AI comes with the Basic, Viral and Record Label plans at no extra fee. It uses your plan's credits exactly like the web app: searching and playlist details use no credits, PlaylistVet costs 1 credit per playlist and a similar-artist search costs 1 credit per artist.

Which AI apps work with Connect AI?

ChatGPT on the web with ChatGPT Plus or a higher plan, Claude on the web, desktop and mobile, Claude Code, Cursor and VS Code. ChatGPT and Claude sign in with your PlaylistSupply account. Cursor and VS Code use a personal key you create on the Connect AI page, and Claude Code can use either.

Can my AI app spend credits without asking?

It is not supposed to. Before anything that costs credits, PlaylistSupply hands your AI app one question for you, with the most credits the request may use, and the paid action cannot start right away. Showing you that question is up to your AI app, so the hard cap is the daily credit limit you set for each connection, from 0 to 50. Paid actions are never retried on their own.

Does PlaylistSupply read my Gmail?

No. Connect AI has no access to your Gmail account. The Gmail connector belongs to your AI app: you connect it there with your Google account, and the AI app uses it to draft pitches and send the emails you approve. Connect AI only receives what the AI app sends with a PlaylistSupply request, such as a search or a playlist link.

Is there a limit on searches through Connect AI?

Searching uses no credits. On the Basic plan, AI apps can run 5 new keyword searches a day, and searching the same words again that day does not count. After the fifth, your AI app answers from playlists PlaylistSupply already found for that keyword until 00:00 UTC. Searches in the web app are not affected.

Does Connect AI search YouTube playlists?

Connect AI searches Spotify playlists. YouTube playlist search, Auto-Pitch and the Playlist Directory stay in the PlaylistSupply web app.

How do I remove a connection?

Open Connect AI in PlaylistSupply and remove it under Your connections. It stops working right away. You can have up to 3 connections, one per app or computer.
